In this dance activity, your child will try to simulate the ways animals move. Start with familiar animals—cat, dog, duck, and lizard, for example. Say, If you were a cat, how would you come towards me? Or, If you were a lizard, how would you move away from me? Avoid telling your child to move like a certain animal. Instead, allow him to sense and create the movements from within. Watch a show or visit a zoo or aquarium to see how animals move about in their natural environments. After your child has a chance to move like a particular animal, ask him to describe how he was moving.
